Description
In the late 1980s the World Congress of Free Ukrainians (now World Congress of Ukrainians) established the International Commission of Inquiry into the 1932-33 Famine in Ukraine. One of the many supporting documents compiled for the Commission was “The 1933 Original Photographs from Kharkiv, Ukraine.” This compilation, also identified as “Exhibit # P-42,” includes excerpts of published text by Wienerberger from his memoir, Hart auf Hart (1939) as well as page-by-page photocopies of the contents of the album that he presented as a token of appreciation to Cardinal Theodor Innitzer of Vienna in 1934, and a letter from the Diocesan Archive’s Director that attested to the authenticity of the photographs and to the legitimacy of their attribution to Alexander Wienerberger.
