Note: circa 1935; Ontario; "You will note that their name is spelt with an ‘E’. Some place in time the spelling changed to Raycraft. Walter at some point found out that the proper spelling is Reycraft when his ancesters came to Canada from Ireland and so he and Mattie and Garnet all corrected their names. For some reason my dad, Harrison, decided not to change his. This explains the variations on the tombstones at McPhail Cemetery." per email from Paul Raycraft, Aug 16 2014.5
Note: circa 1940; Orland, Northumberland Co., Ontario; "Dan, My name is Paul Raycraft, I recently heard about the Latimer photos at the decoration service at McPhail Cemetery. I would like to see them as my father, Harrison Raycraft and his parents, Walter and Mattie as well as his grandfather William are on your list of names. George Vosbourgh is my grandfather on my mother’s side. Also did William Latimer have a son Gerald because he married my Aunt Laura Vosbourgh. I would like to thank you for all the work you have done to check documents and cross-reference for the people on Treesbydan web site. So very helpful. I bought the book Brighton Businesses 1816 to 2009 ans found out that Walter had purchased the Orland Mill in 1933 and that his brother-in-law Shelden Phillips has also owned it in 1911. This changed a bunch of assumptions as to where Walter lived and where my father grew up. I knew that my father, Harrison had a trucking business in Orland and I believe my mother Inez (nee Vosbough) worked on the telephone switchboard. Dad later bought the Bottling Works in Brighton. I drove by the Orland mill yesterday and see it is up for sale.
I would love to find out more about the mill and Latimers’ Store and the photos.
