It exploded about a foot or two over my head and a piece ploughed through the muscle of my right hip and kept on going. I had to lie where I fell that day and night, and the next day. The following night I managed to drag myself out on one leg part way back until I was eventually picked up. I spent the next day, Sunday (I had been wounded on Friday) at rail head.
