- Stoneware jug. Features an ornate leaf design. Inscribed “2. A. A Burnham __ Grocer & Lquor Merchant. Cobourg CW”.
This piece is on loan from the Town of Cobourg.
- Records show that Asa Burnham was born and died in Hamilton Township but he spent most of his life moving around Ontario. He was documented as a Cobourg Citizen between1851 and 1881, although no census indicates he was a store owner. There is a high probability that he owned a store in 1861, the year he was not listed in the Cobourg Census. Otherwise, he would have operated a store in-between or alongside other occupations.
