Service File for Forces Now at Public Library

Full Text

Records of Over Five Hundred Men and Women from this District Now on Active Service – Complete File and Pictures Sought.

Citizens of Lindsay and residents of Victoria and Haliburton Counties will welcome the information that the Lindsay Public Library now has a Service File containing the names of more than 500 men and women who are serving or have served, in the Armed Forces.

The file consists of clippings from local papers and, when available, a service record which includes name, rank, address, date of enlistment and information about training and moves since enlistment and also a snapshot.

The Bulletin Board at the Public Library is being covered with entries that have a complete record and picture. The public is showing considerable interest in this and looks for additions to the section. The file is also available to the public at any time and you are invited to come in and inspect it.

The assistance and cooperation of relatives and friends of those serving is essential for the success of this undertaking. If the Service File is to have a permanent value AL must be listed and the information must be accurate and complete.

This task entails considerable work on the part of the librarians but they are proud of the contribution the district men are making and are anxious to help in this way to keep their records in the minds of those at home. But they need the cooperation of every individual. Will you bring or send your pictures and records to help keep these files up to date?
