Lindsay Soldier Wounded at Caen

Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Balfour, 23 Wolfe St., have received word that their son, Pte. Melville Earle Balfour, aged 24 years, has been wounded while on active service in France.


The young soldier enlisted at the age of 20 and was wounded in the attack on Caen on July 8. Pte. Balfour enlisted at Peterboro [Peterbrough] and trained at Kingston, Ottawa, and Debert (N.S.). He had been overseas for three years. Pte. Walter George Balfour, younger brother, is also serving in France.
