  Lance-Corporal Joseph Bishop, son of Mrs. J. Bishop, of 80 St Patrick St. Lindsay has been wounded in action while serving in Germany according to word received by his mother here recently from the Directors of Records, Ottawa.
  Lance-Corporal Bishop was married to the former Miss Dorothy Barnsden, of Brighton, England, shortly before being reported wounded in action on the Western front. He met his bride while training in England.
  Enlisting with the Dundas, Stormont and Glengarry Highlanders at Peterboro in September, 1941, Lance-Corporal Bishop was sent overseas in March, 1942. Before going overseas he trained at Camp Borden, Kingston and Peterboro.
  Prior to being reported wounded while serving in Germany, he served with the forces in France, Belgium and in Holland.

This card is part of a larger collection of World War II personnel clippings. The project began in 1944 at the Lindsay Library. The intent was to gather together as much information as possible on the military record and the service of people from the Town of Lindsay and the County of Victoria (now Kawartha Lakes)who served in the war. To that end, during the years 1944, 1945, and 1946, members of the public donated photographs and updated information about their loved ones. Both library staff and the public saved and donated newspaper clippings. Some of the files contain great amounts of detail, while others have just a name.
