A cable received this week by Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Brooks of Omemee advising them that their eldest son, AC 1 Mons Brooks, had arrived safely in England. In August 1943 Mons, age 19, enlisted in the R.C.A.F. as an Air Gunner. He received training at Manning Depot and Centralia and was a member of the R.C.A.F. Band there. He left Canada before his training was completed. He was a graduate of Omemee High School and prior to his enlistment was employed in Peterboro.
