Omemee Boy Is Wounded In Germany

  Omemee, May 11 - Pte. Clarence Robert Clifford, aged 19, of Algonquin Regiment, whose parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Clifford, have received a cable informing them that he had been slightly wounded in action in Germany, April 30.
  Enlisting in Peterborough, August 1, 1944, Pte. Clifford spent a few months training in Kingston, St. John, Quebec; Farnham, Quebec; and Debert, Nova Scotia, arriving overseas on Christmas Day, 1944. On January 11, 1945, he arrived in France, and since that time has served with his regiment in Belgium, Holland, and finally Germany.
  Before his enlistment, Pte. Clifford was employed in Omemee by the North American Leather Company, and prior to that time was a student at Omemee High School.

This card is part of a larger collection of World War II personnel clippings. The project began in 1944 at the Lindsay Library. The intent was to gather together as much information as possible on the military record and the service of people from the Town of Lindsay and the County of Victoria (now Kawartha Lakes) who served in the war. To that end, during the years 1944, 1945, and 1946, members of the public donated photographs and updated information about their loved ones. Both library staff and the public saved and donated newspaper clippings. Some of the files contain great amounts of detail, while others have just a name.
