May 19, 1943L.A.C. Joseph Day who is taking a pilot’s course has been transferred to Manitoba. He is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Day.
August 23, 1943Congratulations to J. L. Day of Haliburton who received his wings on Thursday at No. 17 Service Flying Training School at Souris, Man.
August 25, 1943Among the list of pilots receiving their wings recently was Joe L. Day, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Day, Haliburton.
Joe enlisted in 1942 and has been stationed for some time at Souris, Man. where he received his wings.
His many friends here are pleased to know his course was successful.
August 31, 1943Sgt. Joe L. Day who recently received his wings at Souris, Man., is spending 10 days at the home of his parents and leaves on Sept. 1 to complete a course at an Eastern Station.
December 29, 1943PO. Joseph Day who has been in Halifax is spending a lengthy furlough at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Albert Day.
January 14, 1944PO. Joseph Day, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Day, who has been home on month’s furlough, left to report at Lachine, Quebec.
March 14, 1944Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Day received a cable this week that their son, PO. Joseph E. Day had arrived overseas. He is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Day and received his wings at Souris, Man.
September 11, 1945 (Haliburton)P.O. Joseph Day, who has spent a month’s leave at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Day, left for Toronto on Sunday.

- This card is part of a larger collection of World War II personnel clippings. The project began in 1944 at the Lindsay Library. The intent was to gather together as much information as possible on the military record and the service of people from the Town of Lindsay and the County of Victoria (now Kawartha Lakes) who served in the war. To that end, during the years 1944, 1945, and 1946, members of the public donated photographs and updated information about their loved ones. Both library staff and the public saved and donated newspaper clippings. Some of the files contain great amounts of detail, while others have just a name.
