Dobie, T. Holland-May 1945
Thomas Dobie whose home is at 61 Adelaide Street North in Lindsay enlisted for service with the Canadian Army on December 11, 1942. He joined the Royal Canadian Artillery and had the rank Trooper. Tpr. Dobie trained at Peterboro, Ont. and Camp Borden, Ont. From Peterborough Tpr. Dobie was sent to Prince Edward Island, to Halifax (N.S.) thence to Camp Borden, Ontario. Trooper Dobie went overseas in July 1944. He saw action against the enemy in Italy and North West Europe.
Trooper Dobie transferred once (cont'd on back) while in the service. In February 1944 he left the Royal Canadian Artillery and joined the Armoured Corps.
Trooper Dobie had training as a Gunner and wireless operator. Trooper Dobie’s service entitled him to the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, France-Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service medal and clasp.
Trooper Dobie arrived home from overseas service in January 1946 and was given his discharge from the active army on February 11, 1946.
