Among first enlisting in town – Wounded

Gnr. Donald D. Hatchard, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. Hatchard, and husband of the former Audrey Maxwell, has been reported wounded in action in France, September 15th.


Gnr. Hatchard was born at Trenton, received his high school education at Bancroft and later moved to Lindsay.


He enlisted with the 45th Field Battery here on the first day that recruiting started and went overseas with the regiment, which was in 1941. He will mark his fourth Xmas there this year.


Going to France in June shortly after D-Day, Gnr. Hatchard was wounded on September 15. Further details are not available.
