Bobcaygeon News Notes

Bobcaygeon, April 11 (Staff) – Gnr. Roy Killaby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mossom Killaby, South Verulam, was among the returned men to arrive home last week. Roy went overseas three and a half years ago, serving in the artillery in Belgium. Later he was transferred to the infantry. Roy doesn’t say much only war is awful and beyond imagination as to just what it is like. In Canada we do not know there’s a war on. He has a brother Carman, overseas, in Japan. On Friday evening a large gathering of friends and neighbours gathered at the home of the Killabys for a social evening. A very pleasant evening was spent. During the evening Roy was presented with a substantial purse and accompanying good wishes. Though taken absolutely by surprise, the recipient made a neat speech thanking all for the lovely gift and expressed his pleasure at being home and seeing them all once again.

A lovely lunch, brought by the visitors, was served.
