Fated Three from Lindsay

Three Lindsay boys started in war and three wind up in hospital together

Three Lindsay young men, Gunner Laurie Hutchinson, Gunner Fred Lewis and Gunner William Wallace, have had some exciting and unusual experiences in the War of Invasion in France.

The three young men were members of the reserve unit at the outbreak of war and enlisted on the same day and at the same time in Ottawa. They sailed overseas in the same ship.

In England the boys were separated and went across the channel to France in different units. They fought in the opening days of the invasion and all three were wounded. Strange as it may seem the three friends met again when they found themselves in the same ward in the same hospital in England. Gnr. Hutchinson was wounded in the arm and shoulder; Gnr. Lewis was seriously injured with shrapnel and Gnr. Wallace wounded in the head.
