Parents still hopeful for son’s safety

Cameron, Aug. 9, (Special) – A communication from the Royal Canadian Air Force, Ottawa, received Aug. 3rd by Mr. John Mark, regarding his son Clarence, who has been reported missing since April 25th, was not very encouraging.

The Report reads in parts as follows: At 5.18 PM, April 25th, your son’s aircraft and another Lancaster collided at 12,000 feet over the sea at a distance computed to place the aircraft at approximately 80 miles northeast of Williamshaven, Germany. These aircraft left their base at 2.55 PM for operational bombing. After the collision one aircraft went down in flames and the other exploded in the air.

Whether any of the boys bailed out or not remains a mystery, but the parents are still hopeful.
