Kirkfield boy awarded M.B.E.

One district boy attached to the RCAF overseas, was among those awarded as a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in the New Year Honour List.


He is F|L Charles Joseph Mitchell, formerly of Kirkfield, and whose sister, Mrs. E. MacDonald, still resides there.


His citation is as follows:


MITCHELL, Charles Joseph, F|L, MBE. Born 10-5-1889, Kirkfield, Ontario. Received his upper school education in Lindsay, Ont., and was manager of the Canadian National Railway Kirkfield Lodge, previous to his enlistment in the RCAF at Toronto 5-9-41. His sister Mrs. E. MacDonald, resides at Kirkfield Ontario. Member of the Flying Control Branch of the RCAF, F|L Mitchell is now stationed at No. 2 SFTS Uplands.
