Wins Sparks – AW1 Elzena McConnell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen McConnell, Omemee, has graduated from Montreal Wireless School earning her coveted “Sparks”, and obtaining honours in Morse Code, having accomplished 22 words per minute, against the required 18 words per minute. Elzena enlisted in the Women’s Division of the Royal Canadian Air Force in September 1943 and spent the first six weeks of her training at Rockcliffe. From that time she has been stationed at Montreal Wireless School, until her graduation when she was posted to Weyburn, Sask.
