Gnr. Rogers, W. Allen.

Gnr. Rogers was born in Minden Ontario on 15 September 1922. He attended Minden public and continuation schools. He was in the employ of the Orillia Water Light and Power Commission at their Minden plant when he enlisted.


Gnr Rogers enlisted in the Canadian Army on his twentieth birthday in 1942. He received his basic training at the Orillia Military Artillery training at Petawawa Camp.


Gnr Rogers was posted overseas in March 1943 and went to Italy with the 18th Battery of the 2nd Medium Regiment in November 1943. He saw continuous action in this service until the Canadians were withdrawn from Italy in March 1945. He proceeded with his regiment into Belgium, Holland, and Northwest Europe where he remained until the surrender of the enemy in this section – May 1945.
