"NOTHING WE WANT THEY DON'T GET FOR US", SAYS PRIVATE J. T. ATTRIDGE. FORMERLY MIDLAND REGT.
The following letter from Pte. J. T. Attridge formerly of No. 1 Midland Regt., from a Canadian Hospital in England in praise of the Canadian Red Cross, needs little comment.
However one sentence seems to stand out. "There is nothing we want that they don't get for us." What more need be said.
No. 8 Canadian General Hospital, Canadian Army, England.
June 16, 1943.
To the Editor,
I writing this to the people of Lindsay as I want them to know how wonderful the Canadian Red Cross has been to us in hospital here. I could not help sitting down and writing this line to you to tell you how well the boys are looked after by the Red Cross.
There is nothing we want that they don't get for us. I have been in hospital nearly ten weeks, and there has not been a day that I have not seen them, except Sundays.
We are getting your sweaters and socks and cigarettes and appreciate these very much.
Yours very truly,
Pte. J. T. Attridge

- This card is part of a larger collection of World War II personnel clippings. The project began in 1944 at the Lindsay Library. The intent was to gather together as much information as possible on the military record and the service of people from the Town of Lindsay and the County of Victoria (now Kawartha Lakes)who served in the war. To that end, during the years 1944, 1945, and 1946, members of the public donated photographs and updated information about their loved ones. Both library staff and the public saved and donated newspaper clippings. Some of the files contain great amounts of detail, while others have just a name.
