“This job took up much of my time for the next several weeks. Threshing would require two or three days, and this was done by the threshing gang, who operated a steam engine and used wood which had to be prepared in advance and piled within easy reach of the fireman, who had the easy job, since he was out of the dust and dirt, but still had to know how to keep steam up and keep his machinery greased.” George C.R. Hall’s words.
