Wayside Jottings

It is positively and emphatically

stated Mr. John Bambridge, Cartwright,

has for the third time yielded to love's

resistless power, and taken upon himself

the arduous and responsible duties of

matrimony. His selection this time

is Miss May Woods, daughter of Mr.

John Woods, of South Manvers. The

marriage ceremony was performed in the

town of Bowmanville, and on the coldest

day that we have been blessed with this

winter, but when the heart is warmed

with love's delightful and penetrating

fire, what odds. even if the mercury

does go 24 below zero. The young lady

who has, voluntarily or involuntarily,

placed her happiness in the keeping of

another, is about 15 years of age, while

the years of the bridegroom number only

95. But love levels all distinctions of

rank and age, and in this fast and pro-

gressive age of what importance is 80

years between a couple who are the

victims of that powerful passion that

prompted Leander to breast the waves
