A white index card containing the name, rank and military history of a soldier of Waterloo County. Card also includes a photograph and a red cross.
Notes:
Private William Cecil McGrath was born on April 14, 1890 in Belmont, Middlesex County, Ontario. He was the son of of John Joseph McGrath and Hannah Gertrude Upfold of 8 Ainslie St., Galt, Ontario.

He enlisted on December 17, 1915 in Galt with the 111th Battalion. At the time of his enlistment, McGrath was a clerk, single and a Roman Catholic. His residence was 21 Ainslie St., Galt. His regimental service number was 730237.

Overseas, he served with the 4th Battalion, Canadian Infantry. Private McGrath was killed in action during the Battle of Vimy Ridge in an attack from the southwest of Thelus to Farbus on April 9, 1917.

His name is recorded on the Vimy Memorial in Vimy, Pas-de-Calais, France.
