McKay, Harold

Lieutenant.

Enlisted as a private in 6th Battery of London.

This battery was broken up and he went to France with 1st Divisional Ammunition Column from which he was transferred to 12th Battery in May 1915.

He remained with that unit until April 1916 taking part in the Second battle of Ypres, the battles of Festubert, Divenchy, Bois Grenier; which was part of the great battle of Loos, and St. Eloi.

He returned to England for his commission and returned to France in 1917 joining the 31st Battery of the 3rd Division.

During 1917 he took part in Vimy Ridge, Avion, Hill 70, and Passchendaele.

In 1918 he fought at Amiens, Monchy, the Drocourt-Queant line, Canal du Nord, Bourlon Wood, Cambrai, Valenciennes, Mons.

He was only once slightly wounded.

He was awarded the Military Cross at Nieppe Forest.

He returned to Galt Monday, April 7, 1919.
