A white index card containing the name, rank and military history of a soldier of Waterloo County. Card also includes a photograph and a red cross.
Notes:
Private John Edward Waddell was born on April 20, 1897 in Kulross Township, Bruce County, Ontario. He was the son of John Albert Waddell and Susan Isenbach.

He enlisted on March 1, 1916 in Hespeler, Ontario. At the time of enlistment, he was a farmer, single and a Roman Catholic. His address was given as 62 Brubacher St., Berlin, Ontario. His regimental service number was 730582.

Overseas, he served with the 75th Battalion, Canadian Infantry. He was killed in action during the Battle of Vimy Ridge on April 9, 1917.

His name is recorded on the Vimy Memorial.
