Description:
A miniature red stage coach, made of metal. Inscribed “ Licensed to Carry 14 Passengers. Cobb & Co. Royal Mail” with a “VR” underneath of a crown.
Notes:
This item was bought and displayed to highlight the locally run Weller Stage Coach, which settled on the corner of George and Orange Street in Cobourg during the 1840s. This stage coach business operated as far East as Kingston and as far West as Hamilton, transporting passengers and parcels. Aesthetically, the stage coach would have resembled this item, however the engravings would have been different.
