On a separate insert:
"Tuesday, April 12th, while we were busy addressing these booklets, the Falls View Bridge, which had been lying on the ice since the bridge fell, began to disappear. About 7.10 a.m. the section nearest the American side tipped up and plunged into the river. About 8.30 the next section fell. The last section, nearest the Canadian side, (1/4 of total span), seemed to be solid but at 3.25 p.m. the ice bridge on which it rested started to move toward the middle of the river and the ice floe began to crack and groan and turned in the river as a ship would pointing its bow down stream. The graceful movement then started, with thousands running along the upper banks to keep up with it as the current carried it swiftly to a point opposite the foot of Otter St., (nearly a mile from former site), where at 4.05, with one last despairing shrug, it slowly dived beneath the water which at this point is 175 feet deep.
