Description:
A sepia colour portrait photograph of Mrs. C. Howard Fisher [Emelie Boyton] which was placed inside a booklet with engraved name of Hamilton photographer: "Hubert Beckett, Hamilton".
There is also a personal letter from Mrs. C. Howard Fisher's granddaughter to Mrs. Stewart regarding this portrait as well as handwritten description on the envelope.
A photograph was probably taken between 1937 and 1942 - a letter (with date "April 7/67) contains this part:
"This is probably a likeness of Lea when she was really active in Queenston Women's Institute -25 or 30 years ago."
Notes:
Hubert Beckett opened a professional studio in Hamilton in 1925, and was active as a portrait photographer until his death, at age 75, in 1967.
Inscriptions:
on the envelope addressed to Mrs. Wilfred Stewart, St. Catharines:
"Photo of Mrs. H. St. C. Fisher-mother of: Walter C. Fisher and H. Boynton Fisher. Wife of Howard Fisher of Fisher Farms on Niagara Parkway & producer of the #1 peach of the 1940's - The Fisher Peach"
