By-law No. 746

A By-law for the formation of the Police Village of St. Davids.

WHEREAS a petition has been presented to this council praying that the locality hereinafter described be erected into a Police Village.

AND WHEREAS a petition has been signed by a majority of the freeholders of the locality whose names are entered on the last revised assessment roll and by a sufficient number of resident tenants of the locality whose names are entered on such roll to make up with such freeholders a majority of the whole number of freeholders and tenants whose names are so entered.

AND WHEREAS the locality has a population of not less than 150 and an area of not more than 500 acres.

BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Municipal Corporation of the County of Lincoln and it is hereby enacted as follows:

(1) THAT the said locality, the boundaries of which are as follows: ALL AND SINGULAR those certain parcels of land and premises, situate, lying and [?] the Township of Niagara, in the County of Lincoln and being composed of Lot Number 89 and all those portions of lots Numbers 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95 and 96 and the highways therein, which may be more particularly described as follows: COMMENCING at the north-east angle if said lot 89; THENCE southerly along the east limits of lots [89?] and 90 to the right-of-way of the Michigan Central Railroad (Canada Southern Division) THENCE southerly following the westerly limit of said right-of-way to the south limit of said Township of Niagara; THENCE westerly along said south limit to a point fifty rods west of the east limit of lot 93; THENCE northerly and always at the distance of fifty rods west of the east limits of lots 93, 94, 95 and 96 to the south limit of the Queenston and Grimsby Road; THENCE south easterly along said road to the intersection of the said road with the Merritton Road; THENCE easterly crossing the road to the south west corner of said lot 89; THENCE northerly along the west corner of said lot 89, to the north limit of said lot and THENCE easterly along the north limit of said lot 89 to the place of beginning, together with the highways within said defined limits; be and the same is hereby formed into a Police Village, which shall bear the name of the Police Village of St. Davids.

(2) That the first election of trustees of the said Police Village shall take place at the [?] Wall in the Township of Niagara on the 13th day of August, A.D> 1923 and William Stevens shall be the returning officer to hold the election.

(3) That the first meeting of Trustees shall take place at the St. Davids' School on the 20th day of August, A. D. 1923 at the hour of eight o'clock in the afternoon.

(4) That this By-law shall take effect from the time of passing thereof.

PASSED and ADOPTED this 17 day of July, A. D. 1923
