On September 18, 1984, in theatrical experiment unrivalled across Canada, the Shaw Festival simultaneously recreated scenes from Orwell's "1984" in three theatres, and variety of locations in the town itself. It involved the entire town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, most of the Shaw Festival Company (including administration, production, and acting ensemble) as well as a limited audience of 700 for this one-night only spectacle.
