"There has never been before, nor likely ever will be again, a Niagara family so absolutely dominant in the sport of golf. With over 88 club, regional and provincial championships between hem, the Derbyshire's are truly, the pride of Niagara-on-the-Lake golfing fraternity. Al began the dynasty as a Jr. Champion in 1938 with Vera joining him on a podium for her first title in 1964 while their son Mark, waited until 1973. Mark continues to this day (2006) as the reigning men's champion of the Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club, astoundingly having won for the last 30 years in a row!"
