- Chartered Buses Carry Six Nations Indians to New York
Two buses headed from Ohsweken to New York this morning on a trek which will take the Six Nations Indian Band, plus representatives of the Indian Defence League of America to the United Nations at Lake Success.
The Indian band, which doubles as the regimental band of the 56th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Brantford, will parade in tribal regalia down Fifth Avenue with representatives of many other tribes scattered across North America.
As members of the local Reserve Army regiment, the bandsmen, headed by WO. 2 David Mitson, Dundas, the leader, will appear in uniform of the Canadian Army when not on parade. New uniforms were issued at the Armories here earlier this week so that the band would present the "spit and polish" for which the regiment prides itself.
