Team Canada captures bronze medal
By Neil Becker, Sports News

It was a special moment for Team Canada's third baseman Carey-Leigh Thomas who got the bronze medal draped around her shoulders.

Despite Team Canada dropping an 11-1 decision against Japan in WBSC Women's World Softball Competition, the tournament was still a huge success as they are coming home from Surrey B.C. with medals after finishing fourth in 2012 and 2014.

Coming into action against Japan, Carey-Leigh Thomas who was hitting seventh, was coming off a big game in what was a 9-2 win against Netherlands where she contributed with a hit and two runs scored to spark the offence.

During the opening game, Thomas also came through with a clutch hit and run scored as Canada got off on the right foot with a 4-3 win against China.

A special congratulations to Team Canada who also in 2010 won Bronze in Venezuela.
