ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY:

"Thomas Merton" was a five-part series which aired on CBC Ideas during January and February, 2014. The subject was Thomas Merton: the poet, mystic, spiritual writer, social critic, and also a man who brought the knowledge of the East to the West. Much of the material for the series came from a three-day symposium organized by the Vancouver School of Theology in May, 1978. Michael W. Higgins was chairman of that symposium and also hosted all of the five programs aired on the CBC.

SCOPE AND CONTENTS:

This subseries is comprised of the transcript for each of the five programs, "Thomas Merton", aired on CBC Ideas.

St. Jerome's University is located in Waterloo, Ontario, and is situated in the University of Waterloo. It was founded as St. Jerome's College in 1865 by the Congregation of the Resurrection. In 1959, it was granted university status and changed its name to the University of St. Jerome's College. It has been federated with the University of Waterloo since 1960. In 1998, the name was officially changed to St. Jerome's University.
