A black and white portrait photograph of Mrs. William Sinclair (1812-1893). Mrs. Sinclair is pictured seated in a chair.
Notes
Margaret Prentice was born in the parish of Crawford-John, Lanarkshire, Scotland, in 1812. She married William Sinclair in Scotland in 1833. The Sinclairs came to Whitby in 1833 and resided at Almonds until 1861 when they purchased Glenrath Farm at lot 18, Broken Front Concession, Whitby Township. This farm was the site of the British spy training base, Camp X in the Second World War. Mrs. Sinclair died on Glenrath Farm, on June 23, 1893 and is buried in Union Cemetery, Oshawa.
