Description
Black and white negatived depicting an advertising card of the tourist home at Maple Lodge Farm. The house was photographed from the front and there is a gas pump in the foreground of the image.
Notes
This house was located on the south side of Dundas Street/Highway 2 between the hydro line that passes east of Bowman Avenue and Glenhill Drive. It was demolished about 1970 or 1971.
The house appears in the 1877 Ontario County atlas on the property of J.S.M. Wilcox.
The advertising card (which is not visible in this image)reads: 'Maple Lodge Farm. Tourists' Home. Between Whitby and Oshawa on Highway No.2. 28 Miles East of Toronto. Electricity, Bath, Garage. J.E. Johnston, Whitby. Meals served at all hours. Rates Reasonable.'
