Jack and Robert Bradford Major Robert D. Bradford is currently serving in the Canadian Armed Services, 1st Canadian Division Headquarters, Kingston. He, assisted by his father, Jack Bradford, long-time member of the Hastings County Historical Society, has written two works of local interest. William Canniff William Canniff, physician and author, was born in 1S3O in Thurlow, of United Empire Loyalist descent. In 1855 he was admitted a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in England and served as a medical officer in the Crimean War. On his return to Canada, he practiced medicine first in Belleville, and later in Toronto. He was sub-dean of the Toronto Medical School and the first medical health officer in Toronto. His fame rests mainly on his massive historical work " A history of the early settlement of Upper Canada " C1869). He died in Belleville in 191O. Janet Louise Swoboda Lunn Janet was born in Texas and raised in the,-northeastern part of --ie united States. She and her husband Richard moved back to the Quinte ^rea, where he was raised, several years ago. Janet is the author of several books for children of all ages, a popular lecturer on children's literature and the recipient of numerous awards for her writing. With her husband Richard, she co-authored 11 The County : a history of Prince Edward County, Ontario " in 1963. Her most recent col 1 -acorative work of history is " The storv of Danada ", with Christopher Moore in 1992.
