Paul's Motel located across the street from the Belleville general hospital, was named for my grandfather Paul George Haggis who was then, along with my grandmother Gladys, the owner operator. He and Gladys lived in a portion of the main building and owned the Motel from about 1957 until his death in 1969. A Greek immigrant himself, he rented the building on the corner of McDonald Ave and Dundas to other Greeks Pete, Harry Zorulous, Ted and Gus Christopher and Angelo, who all worked at Pete's Lunch. It was a very popular stop for many, The motel had a number of cabins behind the main building. It was a classic, and I have many fond memories of extended stays there with my grandparents.
