of the annual summer festival. Burghgraef has been chairman of site services for all three venues since 1999 and is responsible for all the fencing, garbage containers and portable washrooms for Zwicks, Meyers Pier and Victoria Park. (He uses his truck to haul fencing from CFB Trenton for the waterfront festival). "The festival is a real bonus to the city because the proceeds are used to improve various parts of the city, such as refurbishing Meyers Pier, putting hydro and water at Zwicks and improving the Bayshore Trail," he said. "It's fun event and it does put Belleville on the map." Burghgraef has been a Gleaners Food Bank volunteer since 1993. He uses his truck weekly to pick up large quantities of donated food from various companies in Belleville and Trenton, including Quaker Oats and Lipton. His weekly pickups average a ton of food for the food bank's warehouse, everything from cereals and rice cakes to drink crystals and nutrition bars. "I provide the vehicle and I have helpers who load and unload my truck," he said. He's also helps co-ordinate the annual fall food drive. "The food bank is a worthy cause because you're helping the less fortunate." As a volunteer, he also sets time aside to pursue his hobbies of wildlife scroll sawing (like collector plates but made of wood), travelling with his wife and spending quality hours with his children and six grandchildren. "I'm making the most of my forced retirement," said Bv^ghgraef-re. . i
