\Uo.ruTHE Belleville city council and directors of the Belleville Industrial Commission will get together nert Tuesday afternoon for discussion of future Commission policy. In announcing the meeting date this morning Mayor J. Russell Scott said that Tuesday appeared to be the earliest possible date for the t w o bodies to get together. The meeting is called for the city hall council chambers at 3:30 and in the public interest it is the opinion of Mayor Scott that it should be open to the press unless otherwise decided on a recorded vote by members of council. According to the mayor only a recorded vote of council against a public m e e t i n g would change the present plans. The vote, he said, would be taken at the beginning of the meeting. M r . Brown indicated t h i s morning that the commission was responsible to council in all matters and was ready to comply with council's recommendations and decisions. It was also the desire of the BIC yesterday that Fred Deacon, vice-chairman of the commission, accept the chairman ship vacated by G e o r g e Hume's recent resignation. Mr. Deacon countered that A notice f the Tuesday meeting will go out to council members and directors of the Industrial Commission. Alderman E. A. Orr at Monday's council meeting suggested the joint meeting to iron out what he felt was a "strained relationship" between the two bodies. And at a special meeting of the Industrial Commission yes terday afternoon, it was t h e members expressed wish to accept the invitation. The board passed a resolution to send a communication to the city clerk requesting council advise the board of the time and place of the meeting and the manner in which it would be conducted. he would like to take the matter under advisement a n d said he would make his deci sion subsequent to the upcoming council-BIC meeting. Considerable regret was expressed by all members of the commission as t h ey accepted Mr. Hume's resignation yesterday. It was the consensus of the directors that vice-chairman Deacon suitably acknowledge t h e resignation indicating extreme thanks for Mr. Hume's warthy contributions during his tenure. "The loss of his constructive thoughts and his ability to serve the community so capably will be felt," concluded Mr. Brown. i
