According to files from the Hastings County Historical Society, Corby Jr. lived in his George Street home with his wife, Maria Courtney, and three daughters. While on a trip to Bermuda, he died of appendicitis on April 24, 1917. It is not known who, among Corby's relatives, lived in his old home fol- lowing his death, but before the demolition took place, the house had been vacant for some years. An apartment building was built in its place. Today, the memory of this generous res- ident lives on amidst the fragrance of the roses at Cortay Park in the summer and in the appreciative hearts of the local book lovers visiting the local public library.
