1 que Evans also enjoys figure skating and rollerblading. But she always knew she'd re-enter the modelling field one way or another. And when Judith Acena-Paquette re- cently opened up Acena Models and Im- age Centre in Trenton, she was able to do just that. Not as a model, though -- as a teacher. The centre, which recently started its first six-week training session, teaches females and males self-enhancement skills, helping them present themselves and boosting their self-confidence. The course includes sections on proper walk- ing and posture, fitness, health, nutri- tion and skin and health care. "Modelling englobes many different aspects," says Labrecque-Evans. "And what we do is just train people to project themselves better. "The agency is not here to make peo- ple models/' she says. "We're here to of- fer guidance and give them all the tools required to develop the potential (to model)." Acena-Paquette, a former teacher, says she opened Acena because she saw a need for a modelling centre in Trenton. She has already met with many girls and hopes her centre will "either market them locally, nationally or internation- ally." Meeting up with Labrecque-Evans was easier said than done for Acena- Paquette. She had heard that a former Miss World Canada was living in Trenton, but had difficulty tracking her down. Re- cently, Labrecque-Evans was shopping downtown Trenton and Acena-Paquette spotted her. Noting her potential to be a model but little realizing that this was actually the^oman she was seeking, Acena-Paquette asked her if she wanted to attend the modelling centre. Although it was over a decade ago, Labrecque-Evans says she remembers clearly how "shocked" she was when she was crowned Miss World Canada. "I really didn't think I would win," she says, "so I was really surprised." Later that year at the Miss World pageant in England, Labrecque-Evans was elected Miss World Personality 1980. There were 67 countries repre- sented and Labrecque-Evans says she "came back to Canada very proud."
