c -°y < INTELLIGENCER PHOTO BY BARRY ELLSWORTH Gary Gould ( The family was active in soccer, Softball and bowling when the boys were younger, so much so that Anne-Marie was a bowling coach. The Goulds have a border collie named Kirby, who is about 12 years old. "We try to get out everyday and take her for a walk," he said. Then there is the cat, a two-year-old feline that someone gave to Anne-Marie. Its carries an unusual moniker. "We just call it Cat." Gould has an all-terrain vehicle and can often be found wetting a line in summer. "I like fishing ... mostly back north," he said, defining 'back north' as anywhere from Tweed to Algonquin Park and he uses a canoe, which is "nice and quiet." He and Anne-Marie also like camping, once again in the splendour of Algonquin Park. Puttering around the house is another favourite pastime -- he has about an acre of land at the couple's Thurlow home. "There's always something to do around the yard." That includes chopping wood -- he has logs delivered and keeps picking away at the pile to make it fire-wood size to warm the house in winter. In general, Gould is a pretty laid-back kind of guy, but he does have one peeve. Rather than follow the plow, which is the safest place to be if there is ice and snow on the road, some people are just in too much of a hurry. "They actually try and pass you all the time," he said, shaking his head. Contact Barry Ellsworth at: newsroom@intelligencer.ca
