THE INTELLIGENCER, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 25, 196T Mv - Mr. and Mrs. Archie Greatrix Mark Golden Anniversary Approximately 250 relatives and friends attended Open House for Mr. and Mrs. Archie Greatrix, 2nd Thurlow on Sunday afternoon and evening to mark the occasion of their 50th wedding anni- versary. Archie L. Greaitrix, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Greatrix formerly of Belle- ville and Mary (Mamie) Amelia Snider were married at the home of the bride's parents on H e r c h i m e r Avenue, Belleville on October 24, 1917. Assisting the honored guests for this special event were their two sons Ralph of Thfurlow and Lloyd of Belle- ville and their families. The six grandchildren presented their grandparents with flow- ers, corsages and personal gifts. The flower girl at the wed- ding 50 years ago, Mrs. Henry A. Hoadley Jr. of New Lon- don, Connecticut, niece of the bride, was present for the celebration. Refreshments were prepar- ed and served by the Second Line Neighbors' Aid group and 16 girls from the area .assisted with the serving. The living room was appropriately decorated with yellow 'mums, gold and white streamers and wedding bells, and a four- tier anniversary cake made -and decorated by Mrs. Wil- liam Lazariuk graced the lace covered serving table. At this time friends and neighbors presented Mr. and Mrs. Greatrix with a green up- holstered chair. Mr. Greatrix has lived on the 2nd Thurlow aH Ms Ife and has maintained a dairy- farm, also a farmer-butcher trade on the Belleville mar- ket. He served on the Bay of Quinte High School board for 13 years and was chairman of that board in 1961. Mrs. Greatrix has taken an active part in the Neighbors' Aid and is a former president of the Quinte Women's In- stitute. One of her treasures is the certificate of enrolment, young women's class, Spen- cer's Sunday School of the Methodist Church, dated July 6S 1918, The couple have lived in their .present residence for 47 years on a farm originally purchased from the crown in 1858. For 25 years they at- tended Holloway Street Unit- ed Church and later they took an active pa^t in, the building and extension of Eaisitmimster Church, Belleville. <
