Jack Green yj^ ̂ ,Y^ ,,,,, Noted Salvationist and bandmaster ... Jack Green spanned the generations. The Welshman who came to Canada 60 years ago made a strong impact on his day and age. A noted musician, he was bandmaster for the local Salva- tion Army here. He also led the Concert Brass for some years. Mr. Green's specialty was in the wind instruments, and as an instructor his skills had wide impact. Among those who acquired their musical and instrumental knowledge from him was Ar- nold Brown. The latter came with his family from England and settled in Belleville at an early age, moving up through the ranks of the Salvation Army to become its international head. One of its most able ex- ponents in the field of com- munications, General Brown worked in that capacity in Lon- don, England, in years past. The former Salvation Army chief spoke of the influence of Jack Green on fellow Salva- tionists including himself, on the community and on his time, at the funeral service. Among those in particular who will miss Mr. Green are the young people in whom he fostered a love of music, as well as those whom he watched over as a school crossing guard in his later years. Jack Green led a long and fruitful life. His legacy of music and of traditional and family values speaks for itself.
