i < Presbyterian Minister Dies Suddenly During Service n. PICTON--Mkids'ter of St. An- drew's Presbyterian Church in Bktei, Rev. John R. Greiig, 60, died suddenly shortly after the evening service commenced on Sunday. It was a joint service1 with Pioton United Ohurciii con-' goregation and Mr. Greig 'bad given the invocation, the call to' worship and announced the first hymn, it was during the singing of the hymn that Mr. Greig collapsed and dded almost in- stantly. T(he service was dis- missed by the Rev. F. J. White- ley who was to have been the sp eater. Mr. Greig was inducted as minister at St. Andrew's on Oct. 16, 1959, and tihough his min- istry here was short, he had won a warm place in the hearts of parishioners and many otihers a-nd his death came ais a great shock. Resting at the Gordon R, Whattam Funeral Home, Mir, Greig will lie in state in St. Andrew's Ohurdh from 12,30 uoutii. time of service at two o'clock, Wednesday. Entomb- ment will be in Glenwood vault, Picton. The family has reques- ted that .there be no flowers. Eev. C. D. McLellan of Trenton, Moderator of Kingston Preslby- tery of the Presbyterian Church will be in charge of the service. BORN IN MANITOBA Though born in Manitoba, Mr. Greig came to > Western Ontario wihen a young boy. He wias. or- dained into the ministry thirty y£ars ago at Chatsworth, Bruce Presbytery, and later served at Bluevale charge, Maitland Pres- bytery. He was then called to Atwood, Stratford Presbytery. His next charge was First Church at Collimgwood where he was honored by the Synod of Toronto and Kingston by being elected as its moderator. Afiber seven years' ministry, at Oollingwood, he was called, to St Andrew's at Fergus. From there he was called to Beaches Presbyterian Church in East Toronto and foUowkug six years there accepted a call to St. An- drew's in Picton last October. He was a mem- ber of Prince Ediward Minister- ial Association. Surviving are his wife, two brothers and two sisters, Miss Anmie Greig, R.N., Brantford, Mrs. Reid Asihley (Esitter), Port Arthur, J. Harvey Greiig, Van- couver, and Gordon Greig, Wroxeter, Onft.
