Jim Tebworth, well- known local sports en- thusiast, died Saturday night returning home from Ameliasburgh. He was 62 years of age. Tebby well known in sports circles Charles James Tebworth, well-known local sports en- thusiast and long-time Softball umpire, died suddenly Saturday night at the age of 62 on his way home from Ameliasburgh. He is survived by his wife Evelyn, daughter Mrs. John MacKillican and four sons Peter, Steven, Alan and Robert. Funeral serivce will be conducted at Grant's Funeral Home Tuesday at 2 p.m. Eureka Masonic Lodge will hold a memorial serice tonight at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. 'Tebby* as he was known in Belleville, was the owner of Tebby's Texaco for the past 18 years and was a member of the Eureka Masonic Lodge as well as being a member of the Royal Arch Masons and an associate member of the Belleville Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Ontario Amateur Softball Association for many years and, at the time of his death, was an executive member of the OASA and a member of the OASA rules committee and director of the Slow Pitch program for the OASA. Tebby's involvement in Softball also extended to umpir- ing, having long been a member of the Quinte Umpires Association as well as Convening OASA final series in eastern Ontario. "We're all sorry that he's gone," Cliff Belch, past presi- dent of the OASA and current recreation director for the City of Belleville, said this morning. Tebby was most recently elected to the OASA executive at the association's annual meeting the first week in April in Windsor. Bearers will be Bruce Nickle, Walter Rush, Bill Shaw, Eric Hamilton, Ken Embleton and Cliff Belch.
