h Thompson will go to national games Thanks to the concerns and donations of various groups in Belleville Sarah Thompson will be able to compete in the Canadian Games for the Physically SARAH THOMPSON Disabled in Scarborough this^veekend. Thompson, a blind athlete, broke one Cana- dian and four provincial records at the Ontario Games last month. "It's a real shot in the arm for me. I would have had to renege on going to the nationals if it wasn't for the help I've received," says Thompson who will compete in various track and field events. "Beleive me, it's expen- sive, "she says. Thompson has received assistance from the Lion's Club, Sons of Jacob Ladies Auxiliary Bingo, the Kinet- tes city council and Hugh O'Neil. Some of the assistance was financial but O'Neil and the ladies auxiliary provided Thompson with souvenir pins to exchange with the other athletes. Thompson received several souvenirs from athletes at the provincial games but she had nothing to give them in return.
