During his lengthy service at The Intelligencer he became one of the most- widely known community personalities. His interest in the city and citizens on whom his career was based sent him into city hall, where he served as alderman for a full decade in the 1950s. Born in Rawdon Township, he served overseas on active during World War 1, and some time after his return began his city newspaper career. As a reporter, he covered all aspects of community life. Early in his career he became closely identified with city sports-particularly hockey ana baseball. In 1932 he was named city editor of The Intelligencer, a post which he energetically filled until he steppeodown in 1968 to assume a less deman- $ ding job in the newsroom. Some time later he retired completely from the paper. He took up residence in Hastings Manor county home for the aged in 1972.
