Long life of 100-year-old attributed to work for God By LINDA WHYTE Staff Reporter Happy birthday, Fannie! Fannie Vilneff, a resident of Hastings Manor, has reach- ed the century mark today, as she is celebrating her 100th birthday. Attributing her long life to her work for God, working with Sunday schools and churches, Mrs. Vilneff says she doesn't feel much different being 100. Mrs. Vilneff, who is in good health, adds that she never drank or smoke, and attended the Free Methodist Church for 70 to 75 years. These are all factors pertaining to her long life, she claims. She was raised in a Salvation Army family. The 100-year-old woman, who says she has lived "a good clean life," was born and raised in Tweed. She resided in Belleville "many years ago," and spent the past 11 years in Shannonville before coming to the nursing home. Mrs. Vilneff was married for 52 years, had three girls and a boy, and now has seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. Much of her life has been spent raising her children, and she's enjoyed over the past years such hobbies as fishing, boating, and crocheting. Her favorite pasttime now is reading the Bible. Mrs. Vilneff has seen many changes throughout her life. The first moving vehicle she saw, she recalls, was a train when she was a little girl. Some of the changes she hasn't liked over the years were when dresses were shortened to the knees, when women started wearing pants, and when they started smoking. About 50 relatives and friends of Mrs. Vilneff attended a party in her honor at the manor on Saturday. Happy birthday Fannie Vilneff turned 100 today, and attributes her long life to her work with God.
