Her ; 3*£7;/«' . .. ome economist dies Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Pinkston and Luscombe Funeral Home for Mrs. Donald Ian MacKinnon (Dorothy Batcheller), late of 240 Bleecker Ave., a promi- nent Bellevillian. She died at 8:15 a . m . M o n d a y in a Toronto hospital. Mrs. M a c K i n n o n was known from coast to coast as a p r o f e s s i o n a l h o m e economist, lecturer, radio and television commentator and columnist. She was generally associated with various government agencies and worked out of Toronto and Ottawa before moving to Belleville with her husband in 1950. Since then, although she had retired when she left Ot- tawa, she returned to work with the Poultry Products In- stitute of Canada. Locally, Mrs. MacKinnon was a keen curler and reci- pient of several trophies in both women's and mixed rinks. She was one of the founders of the Belleville Theatre Guild in the early 1950s. She was also active in the University Women's Club and the University of Toronto Alumni Association. She also played a key role in the Rotaryannes. Born at Guelph, she was a DOROTHY BATCHELLER daughter of the late Maj. and Mrs. George Batcheller, Her husband, Donald, whom she married in 1946, was a senior probation officer with the juvenile and family court system at Belleville prior to retirement. He is the sole survivor. Rev. J.C. MacFarlane of Victoria Avenue Baptist Church will officiate for the service at the Pinkston and Luscombe Funeral Home at 2 p.m., burial to follow at In- gersoll.
